It's her room, and it's all about compromise while you're deciding on how to decorate her room. She can blend teen and young-adult items in the same room while still keeping some of her favorites from childhood. She just needs to think of a common denominator to help things coordinate. And you know what? If they don't, so what? If she likes it, that's what counts.

Go to Brylane Bedding and check out their Scenario line. This is exactly what I'm always talking about when I say to decorate with generic bedding, curtains, bath accessories etc.
If you bought everything in this line and used it, you would still not have any 'style' or 'theme' in your room.
But how easy would it be to add your favorite throw (nap blanket), pillows, a few prints or posters, accent rugs etc to your room to get your theme for the day? Add a cute chair and some lighting to make it yours and you'll be all set.
If she's more of the dark, sultry and exotic persuasion there are several options for her. Most of them will have some black in them or the new black, which is espresso brown. I've even seen some with pink that gives it just a touch of "she she" without being frilly.

If she's into gothic style, this would make a not too ominous Goth Style Bed . I can just see this with a gorgeous red comforter set. Wrought iron and wood accessories are easy to find, but it's easy to get some flea market finds and spray paint them black, or a rusty black. You'd be amazed how the most mundane object can be come a work of art.
Try an old bicycle rim that still has the spokes in it. Spray it a flat black/rust color combination, and use some red clothes pins and turn it into a photo collage or message board.
