Most guys don't like a lot of "fuss" when it comes to their rooms. Teen boys? Guys? They're not really boys any more, and they're not quite men yet. But there are some really nice designs and themes that are perfect for them. - And any themed items will work, whether it's football, surfing, Harley or even NASCAR!
- Pick a stripe that has colors that go with his favorite NASCAR accessories. A nice shade of blue or a lighter shade of the gold would work great on the walls. Hey! Go crazy! Paint one wall in huge black and white squares for a checkered flag look! Add a string of black and white checkered pennants that you could put around the top of the other walls like a wall border.

If you're wanting to buy him something that will last and that he can take along to college for the dorm or to his first apartment, you should be looking at quality built furniture, which of course will cost a few more bucks. If it would work for him, you could check out antiques and second hand furniture, and refinish some pieces. They don't build it like they used to you know.
You could spend $700 on a new headboard and footboard with frame, and you could also spend the same amount of money for an antique or used bed, which has already survived a couple generations and will last a few more if taken care of. I'm just sayin'. . . .!
